Invitation to a Public Meeting where you can help decide KERBSIDE (Calderdale)’s Future

The people in our community have clearly shown their support for Kerbside by using their BLACK box. Practically everyone is using Kerbside’s black box rather than the council/SITA’s GREEN box.

We have some big decisions to make and we need you to help us make them.

We have been asked by Sita to quote a price for taking on the collection of fridges, cookers, furniture etc. This is with a view to us reusing the items collected. This would mean giving up kerbside collections.

It has been made clear to us that for the duration of Sita’s contract with CMBC we will not be paid to collect your recycling FROM OUR BLACK BOXES.

We do not have to stop collecting your recycling, but to continue we need to find ways of securing alternative funding or convince CMBC to vary the contract with Sita.

Kerbside collections were begun by volunteers in our community in 1998. Kerbside is owned by you.

  • Should we accept Sita’s furniture offer? This means we would have to give up the recycling collections.
  • Should we continue the kerbside collections for as long as we can (at least 6 months)?
  • Should we lobby CMBC to vary the contract and create a direct contract with Kerbside?
  • Should we look for alternative ways of funding the kerbside collections?
  • Date: Saturday 29th November at 10.30am.

Venue: Good Shepherd Church, New Road, Mytholmroyd, HX7 5DZ.

Please come with a constructive and positive mind that celebrates the Kerbside CAN DO spirit.
